Dr Charlotte Atkin, BSc (Hons), MSc, DClinPsy

Starting psychological therapy can feel daunting, and so I am here to create a space where you feel supported and empowered. To do this, I am passionate about working collaboratively to understand your difficulties, and find a way to navigate these in the most helpful way for you.  In our initial assessment sessions, I will work with you to get a deeper understanding of the difficulties you are facing, and we will choose or integrate different therapeutic models that might be most beneficial to create lasting change. My approach is grounded in warmth, compassion and openness, and my clients usually describe me as professional but down to earth.

I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with over 8 years of experience working in the NHS. I specialise in providing evidence-based therapies, (e.g. CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy) for individuals struggling with many difficulties, including: depression, anxiety, difficulties with perfectionism, guilt, identity, relationship difficulties, or historical trauma. Through my work in neuropsychology and health psychology, I also help people in working through significant life changes, such as long-term conditions or adjustment to health diagnoses.

From several years working with people with learning disabilities, neurodevelopmental conditions and brain injuries, I am passionate about tailoring approaches for clients who identify as neurodivergent or who require cognitive, sensory or physical adaptations. I can provide alternative methods so you get the most out of your therapy sessions, including adapted communication, strategies, and summaries. If you feel like this approach might be beneficial to you, then do get in touch!
